Doggy Travel Tips

It’s getting to the time of year when we’re looking forward to the weekend. We love doing day trips in autumn (who doesn’t?) and taking our four-legged friends makes them that much more enjoyable.

If you’re going for a day trip this autumn, here is a list of some doggy must-haves:

  • A seatbelt or restraining harness. The laws differ on restraining your dog from state to state, but for your pet’s safety and your own, PETS recommends keeping your dog in a harness seatbelt or similar while you’re driving. With the tragic number of incidents that happen every day on our roads, it truly is a case of better safe than sorry.
  • A leash for some walks when you get out of the car
  • Doggy bags, for any toilet breaks your four-legged friend may require
  • Some patience, on your behalf! Unless your dog has travelled with you often, you may find you need to stop quite often at first to ensure your dog isn’t suffering from motion sickness. If your dog does, there are some products on the market that may help you combat this. Talk to your vet for more options.
  • A water bowl to keep your pooch hydrated. We like the Major Dog Foldable Food/Water Bowl. This can be folded out flat for use as a prep surface, or filled with water or tasty morsels for your four-legged friends to eat!
Not only does it have dual uses, but it’s also easy to store away when not in use, making it very convenient to take on day trips in the car and even camping. Mid-year break, anyone?

The very best news is that it not only has a non-slip nap on the underside, but that it also is dishwasher-safe. It’s music to our ears! For more information, visit majordog.com.au
