Help save the life of an abandoned animal and share the love this Valentine’s Day.

Each year more than 400, 000 animals are abandoned in animal shelters across Australia. Just For Pets are holding their second annual Save A Life Day will be held on February 13 and 14 with the aim of re-homing as many animal shelter pets as possible.

Participating Just For Pets stores will be hosting activities such as giveaways, prizes, face painting and fundraising sausage sizzles with select stores also offering pets up for adoption.

CEO of Just For Pets and Animal Advocate Karen Justice said every year hundreds of thousands of animals are abandoned in Australia and more than 180,000 are euthanised.

“Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate how much you love your pet, and also consider giving a new pet a second chance,” said Ms Justice.

Save A Life Day is a wonderful opportunity to adopt a pet as well as raise much needed funds to help the volunteer-run shelters to care for the huge number of animals that require veterinary care, food and shelter every year.”

All animals up for adoption have been vaccinated, micro-chipped and tested for temperament and their suitability for re-homing and cats have also been de-sexed. Adopted pets may cost as little as $100 to encourage more animal adoptions.
