The Secret Life of Pets

One of life’s greatest questions was answered with the release of Toy Story, as kids all over the world finally had some insight into what their toys do when they leave the house. Now it seems, with The Secret Life of Pets, another great mystery might be solved – what do our pets get up to when we go out for the day?

When his owner leaves her New York apartment to head to work each day, a dog named Max (Louis C.K) meets up with the other pets in his building. Everything is easy until one day when Max’s owner brings home another dog, Duke (Eric Stonestreet), and Max must deal with the jealousy and arguing that builds between them, starting with a confrontation with some mean alley cats, and leading to an adventure like nothing else.

The Secret Life of Pets has something for every animal lover. The main two characters are dogs, but there are still plenty of cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and even reptiles peppered throughout. Most important though is its message to pet owners about how to look after your furry friends, and that a pet is a friend for life – abandon them and risk them joining a notorious gang like “The Flushed Pets”.

This film will make you laugh, and it might even make you shed a tear or two. The cast is a goldmine of talent, and those with a keen ear might recognise the voice of Marlin from Finding Nemo.

Make sure you check out this flick as soon as it hits the big screen on September 8. For more information, visit thesecretlifeofpets.com.
