Heading to the beach with your best friend this summer? Then you need to make sure you are well prepared. After you locate the nearest dog-friendly beach to your house, here are our recommended tips:

Beach Essentials

  • Take doggy bags, in case of any mess your pet creates while on the sand or in the water. And yes, some dogs do go there.
  • Make sure you have water or a bowl you can fill at a nearby tap so your pooch can have a drink before you drive home. The saltwater can often make your four-legged friend just as thirsty as it makes you!
  • Take a towel to dry off your pooch. Some dogs love splashing in the shallows – others are brave enough to swim a little farther out. Either way, unless you want a wet, sandy dog in your car, we recommend grabbing a special dog-drying towel to make your trip easier.
  • Talk to the lifeguards before you swim. Make sure there are no dangerous currents. Always supervise your dog in the water and if your dog isn’t a confident swimmer, don’t let them test their paddle skills.
  • Why not take a fun beach toy, such as Major Dog’s Waldi? Coming in mini, small and large, this toy will suit every sized dog. Your pet will be splashing, squeaking and retrieving this toy during the long summer evenings. The Waldi is also perfect to cuddle up to on the way home, relaxing in the car after a fun-filled summers day at the beach.
