PETS 63: On Sale Now!

PETS 63: On Sale Now!

Wow! It is finally here — summer! We love spending time outside at this time of year and soaking up all that living in Australia has to offer.

It’s important to remember not to force your pets to get in the water if they don’t want to — even if you think they’d enjoy it once they got in. Forcing can create a negative experience for them and result in more harm than good. Instead, spend some time together on the sand doing things the two of you enjoy, such as playing fetch, and perhaps gradually move closer to the water, never dragging the dog or making it feel it has to go there. Over time, with treats and patience, you may just get your dog to enjoy being wet — or you may have a dog who is still firmly in the “dry land” camp, and that’s okay too.

If you are introducing your dog to the water for this first time this summer, make sure you check out our article on doggy swimming  — it could save your dog’s life! And if swimming isn’t for the two of you, why don’t you read our feature on summer sports, suited to dog, cat and horse owners and suggesting some fun ways you and your pet can wile away the warmer weeks.

Of course, that’s not all we have in store for you this issue. We have a great safety piece on dehydration, information on why you shouldn’t buy your pet online, some top tips on becoming a competitive groomer, and features on the Lagotto Romagnolo, the Basset Hound, the Birman, Arabian, Eclectus parrot and more!

So get outside (under the shade of a tree, of course) and enjoy the latest issue of PETS.

Purchase at your local newsagency or online at universalshop.com.au.

      Hi Ashleigh,

If you go to our website (universalshop.com.au), you should be able to buy a copy of PETS #63. If it’s not on the website, email one of our subscription staff and I’m sure they will be able to help out 🙂
