PETS 55: On Sale Now!

This issue is dedicated to something we feel very passionately about — the rescue and re-homing of animals in need. When it comes time to choosing a pet, rescue is truly a great choice. There are thousands of animals across the country in need of a new home, each of whom could make a fabulous addition to your family.

I had the pleasure of meeting one awesome little rescuer a year or so ago. Our friendship started when my husband and I went away overseas, and her, her flatmate and friend came to look after our two dogs. From there, the friendship developed and I discovered she helps rescue and care for pets in need of adoption with Coastal Pet Rescue. I was amazed at all the great work this woman does, helping to re-home and love many gorgeous dogs, puppies, kittens and cats, and since knowing her, something I’ve always thought about rescue has really been hammered home: rescue doesn’t mean broken. Many rescue animals are given up for adoption or abandoned either because an owner didn’t desex their pet and had an unwanted litter, or because the owner had a circumstantial change, whether they moved overseas or to a non-pet-friendly property. That doesn’t mean the pet being put up for adoption is any less special than one from a breeder. Please, if you’re looking to bring a new addition into your family this year, I urge you to consider rescue. You could save an animal’s life.

And if you are thinking of doing this, make sure you pick up our latest copy of PETS Magazine and read our feature on choosing the right rescue for you to ensure you find the pet best suited to your lifestyle and personality. We also discuss tips on how to keep your pet safe, so it never ends up at the pound or in a shelter and share some absolutely heart-warming tales of rescue success.

Of course, that’s not all we have in store for you in PETS 55. We also have an interesting feature on canine seizures, learn more about the Appaloosa, and find out some fun facts about the Crested guinea pig — could this be your next pet?

So pick up your copy of the latest issue of PETS, and remember to give your pet an extra cuddle from us this month!
